    How Cron Expressions Work

A cron expression is a string of five fields separated by spaces that defines a schedule:

    Field Values Description
Minute 0–59 Minute of the hour
Hour 0–23 Hour of the day (24h)
Day of Month 1–31 Day of the month
Month 1–12 Month of the year
Day of Week 0–6 Day of the week (Sun=0)
    Special Characters
    • * — matches any value
    • , — list separator (e.g., 1,3,5)
    • - — range (e.g., 1-5 = Mon to Fri)
    • / — step (e.g., */15 = every 15)
    Examples
    • 0 9 * * 1-5 — Weekdays at 9:00 AM
    • */30 * * * * — Every 30 minutes
    • 0 0 1 * * — First of every month at midnight
    • 0 6,18 * * * — At 6 AM and 6 PM every day
    • 30 3 * * * — Daily at 3:30 AM
